Panel Layout Best Practices
- Leading panel: Establish the scene with a wide establishing shot (top row)
- Vary panel sizes: Monotonous grids kill pacing — mix wide, tall, and close-up panels
- Gutter width: Keep gutters consistent (0.125″–0.25″ for print, 8–12px for webtoon)
- Reading flow: Western = left-to-right, top-to-bottom. Manga = right-to-left
- Safe area: Keep text and key art at least 0.5″ from trim edge to avoid cropping
- DPI for print: 300 DPI minimum, 400 DPI recommended for fine line art
